Miss Independent

First of all, you need to go check out the give away Dina is doing. {just click on her name and it will take you there} She has the BEST blog with super cute, creative design stuff, Jesus, and a precious little girl. She has been one of my favorites for a long time now.

As more and more months go by with Emerson, we're seeing her little personality come out. She seems like she is going to be a very sweet, loving, and tough girl.

Our girl has a thing for independence. I can't imagine where she gets that from. Justin and I neither one are what you would call "independent." ::cough:: Yeah, right.

She really has always been that way...content to be on her own...does things her own way. When we went to the doctor to find out of she was going to be a she or a he, she refused to turn over and let us look. We went through an hour-long ultrasound and a second try to no avail. We had to end up going back the next day! She did things her own way.

Now she's in this phase where she'd rather feed herself than Momma do it for her. Last night I cut up a banana for her, and left the half that was not cut up on the table. She immediately went for it, and ignored the pieces in front of her. We tried rice at a restaurant, and she would gag when I fed it to her, but loved it when she fed herself!

I know that her independence will test us many days. We'll get frustrated with her stubbornness, and want her to do things our way. I hope that she never loses that streak of fierceness though. I want her to be a strong girl who stands on her own two feet. I want her to be who she is and to be proud of it.

Y'all just remind me of that about 2 years from now. :)

{sorry for the bad cell phone pics}

  1. Oh sweetie. I'll be reminding you of that in MUCH less than two years. Emily hit the independent streak HARD at 12 months and hasn't turned back. If you need any advice, don't ask me because I need some myself. If you need sympathy, though, I can give you that! :)
